|
|
1. Stretch the podaegi out on a large chair or sofa.
Place baby on the podaegi so that it goes all the way up to the base
of the baby's neck. |
2. Pull the straps of the podaegi around in front of you tightly.
For a young infant, you want to make sure the baby's arms are inside
the podaegi. |
|
3. While holding the podaegi straps taut in front of you with
one hand, stand up slowly. Always support the baby's bottom with the
other hand until the podaegi is completely on. Lean over and
boost baby up your back to a comfortable position. Baby's head
should be high on your back, a little higher than you want because
baby will settle down some when you are finished.
|
4. Cross the straps across your chest just at armpit level.
Make sure the podaegi fits snugly across your chest, but is not too
tight...this is especially important for nursing mothers. If
you are having trouble getting it to feel tight enough, fold over
the top after you are finished putting it on. |
|
5. Wrap the straps behind you and cross them securely under baby's bottom. Baby's legs should hang down and slightly straddle your body. |
6. Bring the straps in front of you and tie them in front.
You don't need to make this too tight to cause circulation problems
for the baby. Just make it snug. If it's uncomfortable,
then loosen it. |
|
Extra Information: It is normal for the baby, especially an older baby, to pull their
arms out of the podaegi. There is nothing to worry about if
they do. Just make sure that the podaegi is up under their armpits
so that if they lean back they are supported as much as possible.
You also want to make sure they are very close to your back without
very much space at all between the two of you to help make carrying
more comfortable and also because it is safer when they are closer
to your back. In addition, make sure you have the straps tied well under their
bum. If it's not secure underneath, they can slowly start sliding
out. This is something very easy to prevent by making sure you
tie it completely under their diaper and make sure their legs are
straddling you. Also remember that there is no reason to tie
the podaegi really tight around the baby's legs and your waist, just
make it comfortably tight. If it feels uncomfortable, loosen it until
it feels right. The podaegi is very safe and fun. Just make sure to follow these little tips to wearing the podaegi the correct way, and it'll be extremely safe!! Happy wearing! |
7. And you're done! |
